LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. 
 
It sounds obvious and it is but many home buyers don’t pay enough attention to those three words.  Remember, when you are buying a home you aren’t just buying a structure or abode in which you can live.  You are probably making the biggest investment of your life.  That’s right, it’s an investment.  Home buying is an investment in your future.  Regardless of your price range you are making an investment when you purchase real estate.  Like any investment you want the best return possible on that investment.  You don’t want to invest $150,000.00 in a home this year and find out five years later the home is still worth only $150,000.00 or less.  Home buying is an investment and investing in real estate has historically been a worthwhile venture.  A good investment in real estate in Michigan should bring you a very reasonable return on your money over the years.
 
For example, in Southeastern Michigan real estate historically has appreciated at a minimum of 3%-5% annually.  This is a fantastic return on your investment considering it is a quite conservative investment.  Home buying is truly a reasonably safe low risk investment.  The home purchase you make today is likely to still be there in three, five, ten and even fifty years down the road.  That’s right.  Real estate doesn’t fade, shrink or disappear.  It’s always there.  If you use the three rules of home buying it will also appreciate in value over those years.
 
So remember, location, location and location when buying a home.  Every price range has a good location.  Buy a home in a good location.  Your real estate agent can find you the location that will ensure you the best return on your real estate investment.
